Octava Minerals (ASX:OCT) has begun a maiden exploration campaign at its Byro Critical Minerals Project in the Gascoyne region in Western Australia.
The company plans to cover 1,110m of drilling over two weeks to provide additional material for bioleaching testwork and provide a basis for an exploration target.
Bioleaching testwork will be conducted by CSIRO and BiotaTec on material sourced from the project.
Octava is targeting the Permian black shale across a 10km by 8km area within the Byro Project. Holes will be drilled to a depth of around 60m.
As reported by Mining.com.au this morning, the company agreed with vendors to very terms relating to its acquisition of the Byro Project.
Octava now has until 31 March 2026 to meet certain conditions relating to the sale, while also issuing performance rights instead of granting the right to 2 million shares.
The Byro Project is a rare earth element, lithium, and base metals project located in the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia, approximately 650km north of Perth. Octava holds two granted exploration licences here, totalling 555km2.
