Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) restarts diamond drilling at its Kopsa Gold-Copper Project in central Finland as part of a program of more than 12,000m across Kopsa and the Kiimala Trend Gold Project.
One rig begins drilling at Kopsa today, with a second scheduled to join the campaign later. The program, expected to conclude in December, will more than double the metres Nordic has drilled at the projects.
The latest work at Kopsa will include infill and step-out drilling following a campaign completed in May. Nordic drilled 38 holes for 9,631m across its first two campaigns, comprising 32 holes drilled from new collars and six extensions to historical holes.
The company plans to incorporate the holes into an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE) in the coming months. Metallurgical test work is also expected to finish later this month, providing updated gold and copper recovery data for the estimate.
At Kiimala Trend, Nordic drilled 1,575m at the Angesneva deposit and Vesipera prospect during the first half of 2026. The company says the work confirmed extensions to mineralised zones at both targets.
Further drilling at Angesneva and Vesipera will begin once the second rig becomes available. Nordic will also test the Kiimala prospect immediately north of Angesneva, including whether mineralisation at the two areas is connected.
An updated MRE for Angesneva is planned later this year, while Nordic will assess the Vesipera results before deciding whether to prepare a maiden estimate.
Angesneva has a near-surface indicated mineral resource of 3.85 million tonnes (Mt) @ 1.19g/t gold (Au) for 147,000 ounces. Nordic may also conduct extension drilling at its Hirsikangas Gold Project, depending on progress and results elsewhere.
The company’s three deposits have a combined inventory of 34.3Mt @ 1.11 grams per tonne Au equivalent for 1.23 million ounces (Moz). This includes 1.04Moz of gold and 38,000 tonnes of copper, with 66% of the gold-equivalent ounces in the measured and indicated categories.
