Nine Mile Metals (CSE:NINE) has received certified assays from drilling at the Wedge Mine in New Brunswick, Canada, which confirms three distinct geological zones.
CEO Patrick Cruickshank says the company is already confirming the next stage of drilling with the aim to test the copper multi-element series of horizons at depth and from the other side of the shear zone.
“As each volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit in the Bathurst Mining Camp has multiple mineralised lenses constituting the deposit, planned borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) surveying will assist in targeting these and what lies below and to the west,” Cruickshank says.
“Upon receiving the BHEM results, our next phase of drilling will not have permit restrictions or winter challenges with access roads to exactly where we want to set up our drill pads.”
At Horizon 1, mineralisation consists of copper-bearing pyritic VMS, assaying 3.09% copper, 1.02% lead, 4.88% zinc, 61.57 grams per tonne silver and 1.01g/t gold.
Horizon 2 is defined by a sequence of weakly mineralised and massive copper bearing sulphides between 150.30m and 165.32m, assaying 2.14% copper, 0.52% lead, 1% zinc, 11g/t silver and 0.40g/t gold.
Meanwhile, at Horizon 3 – which is a 2.82m intercept of massive VMS – assays include 2.91% copper, 0.96% lead, 7.13% zinc, 36.65g/t silver and 0.72g/t gold.
Vice President of Exploration Gary Lohman says these assays confirm the presence of copper at depth, as well as the multi-element nature of the VMS mineralisation.
“We will report on the assays from drillhole WD-25-01 as soon as the lab completes analysis of elements that were over limit,” Lohman says.
“With the assays arriving and compilation – modelling underway, permitting of additional drillholes in the west will allow us to expand on the success of this program.”
The Wedge Project comprises 164 claim units covering a 35.83km2 area.
