Mt Carrington drilling ready to create lasting Legacy

Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has received approval from the New South Wales Government to conduct drilling at its recently identified silver targets at the Mascotte prospect, as a part of a greater exploration program at the Mt Carrington Project.

The company will conduct 4,000m of diamond drilling for eight holes, following up on intercepts dating back as recent as 1970, featuring 18.3m @ 237 grams per tonne silver from 3m, including 9.1m @ 394g/t; 9.1m @ 112g/t silver from surface; and 24.4m @ 45g/t silver from surface, including 3m @ 245g/t from 21.3m.

In addition, Legacy has mobilised a drill rig at the Battery prospect to test copper and gold targets, which have been supported by geophysics for a potential breccia pipe near surface, scheduled to commence in the coming week.

CEO Christopher Byrne explains that this drilling campaign forms part of the first phase of regional plans that will test both the Battery and Mascotte prospects, while also the Emu prospect.

“These are compelling discovery opportunities,” Byrne says.

“Our drilling at the Battery Prospect will be the first follow-up drilling to test the copper targets identified by CRA – now Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) – back in the early 1990s.”

“Both the Mascotte and Battery Prospects, along with the broader 1.2Moz Gold Equivalent Mt Carrington Project, have been revitalised by a new set of geophysical data from the recent airborne MobileMT survey – providing Legacy Minerals with a level of insight not previously available into the structural geology and vertical depth extension of the potential mineralisation.”

Simultaneously with this drilling campaign, Legacy is working towards completing a Scoping Study for the greater project.

The Mt Carrington Project currently holds a mineral resource of 24 million ounces of silver within a greater 1.2 million ounces of silver equivalent.

Legacy Minerals is a gold, copper, and base metals explorer holding a portfolio of assets across New South Wales.
