Miramar Resources extends Glandore East Project with ‘high-grade’ gold discovery 

Diversified Western Australia-focused mineral exploration company Miramar Resources (ASX:M2R) reports it has extended its Glandore East Project following the completion of its northernmost diamond drillhole to date. 

The results, generated by drillhole GDDD007, have confirmed the existence of ‘high-grade’ gold (Au) mineralisation up to 18g/t Au within a broader zone of low-grade gold mineralisation (6m at 1.39g/t Au), in an altered fine-grained rhyolite. 

This drillhole was conducted about 75m north of previous drillhole GDDD004, which also returned ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation with an intercept of 0.8m at 12.6g/t Au, including 0.4m at 23g/t Au. 

It is reported that these new results, in conjunction with results of historical drilling, have underlined the presence of bedrock gold mineralisation related to multiple northeast-trending structures crosscutting the granodiorite/mafic contact over a strike length of about 600m and to a vertical depth of about 180m.   

Speaking on the results, Miramar Resources’ Executive Chairman, Allan Kelly says: “The initial drilling program at Glandore East has confirmed the presence of primary gold mineralisation within multiple northeast-trending structures, with four out of the six effective holes successfully intersecting ‘high-grade’ bedrock gold mineralisation beneath the supergene gold layer. 

Our aim now is to locate where the volume of gold mineralisation might increase, potentially as a result of a change in rock type.

In my experience, the competency contrast between the more brittle granodiorite intrusion and the more ductile and chemically reactive mafic units, complicated by the multiple northeast-trending structures, provides an ideal setting for gold mineralisation. 

The last hole is also encouraging, as it appears to contain more extensive alteration and a wider low grade gold halo, so we are potentially moving in the right direction.” 

The company also notes that the bedrock gold mineralisation identified at Glandore East underlies a large supergene gold footprint, which was outlined by aircore (AC) drilling over about 1km of strike and remains open along strike and at depth. 

Miramar Resources is an ASX-listed diversified mineral exploration company that is actively exploring for gold, iron oxide copper gold (IOCG), rare earth element (REE) and nickel-copper-platinum grade element (Ni-Cu-PGE) deposits within Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, Murchison and Gascoyne regions. 

The company’s 100% owned Glandore East tenement is located within the Eastern Goldfields region about 40km east of the township of Kalgoorlie and mostly covered by Lake Yindarlgooda. The project is characterised by a layered mafic sill that is intruded by granodiorite, as well as a large AC gold footprint and ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation at the eastern contact of the granodiorite, which shares similarities with the nearby Majestic and Imperial deposits. 

With drillhole GDDD007 and the greater initial project diamond drilling program now complete, Miramar Resources announces it is planning to complete a more detailed ground or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) magnetic survey in the first quarter of 2023 to aid in targeting future drillholes.
