Miramar maps more EM conductors at Mount Vernon

Miramar Resources (ASX:M2R) has outlined a string of new nickel-copper-platinum group element (PGE) conductors through ground electromagnetic (EM) work at its Mount Vernon Project in Western Australia.

The company says electromagnetic (EM) surveys have identified additional conductors at its ‘large’ 100% owned Mount Vernon Project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

mineralisation related to 1070Ma aged Kulkatharra Dolerite sills, part of the Warakurna Large Igneous Province and the same age as the large Nebo-Babel Ni-Cu deposits in the West Musgraves.

Executive Chairman Allan Kelly says the company is excited about the potential district-scale opportunity at Bangemall and looks forward to progressing towards a maiden drilling campaign.

“At Mount Vernon and Trouble Bore, we are seeing all the ingredients needed for the formation of a large-scale mafic intrusion hosted Ni-Cu-PGE deposit such as Nova or Nebo-Babel. These types of deposits can be large and very valuable due to the mix of metals present which makes them mostly immune to short-term fluctuations in the nickel price.”

Geophysical surveying contractor Wireline Services Group has completed a fixed-loop EM survey over the Target C area within Mount Vernon, revealing a ‘strong’ late-time EM anomaly where two dolerite sills are crosscut by several northeast-trending faults. 

Miramar says Target C is the strongest EM conductor seen at Mount Vernon to date, and there has been no previous drilling or geochemical sampling ever completed before in the vicinity of this area. 

The geophysical crew has now moved on to Target D, which Miramar says will be the final airborne EM anomaly to be tested as part of this initial program.

From here, the company is planning to take on some rock chip sampling and mapping work across the Mount Vernon area, which will include field-checking the various airborne and ground EM anomalies uncovered so far. 

This will all lead to the company’s maiden drilling program at its Mount Vernon and Trouble Bore projects.

Miramar has already submitted a program of work (PoW) application for drilling at Trouble Bore and a WA Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) application for potential funding assistance from the state government.

With the planned rock chip sampling and mapping to begin in March or April, Miramar is targeting its first reverse circulation (RC) drill testing at the Bangemall projects for around mid-2024.
