Mining services company Monadelphous (ASX:MND) has secured $160 million worth of contracts and extensions with majors including Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) and South32 (ASX:S32).
The $1.3 billion company has been awarded a new three-year contract with South32 (ASX:S32) for the Worsley Alumina operations in Western Australia.
This follows last month’s contract extension for the provision of maintenance and shutdown services.
Under the new contract, Monadelphous will be responsible for the provision of minor project works at the Worsley Alumina operations, which is an integrated bauxite mining and alumina refining operation in Western Australia’s south west.
Bauxite is mined near the town of Boddington, 130km south-east of Perth. It is then transported by overland conveyor to the alumina refinery near Collie and turned into alumina powder, before being transported by rail to the Port of Bunbury.
Monadelphous has been providing services at Worsley Alumina for almost 20 years.
Meanwhile, the Perth-based company has been awarded one-year contract extensions for fixed plant maintenance services and sustaining capital projects across Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Monadelphous has also secured a fabrication, supply, installation and commissioning contract at Rio Tinto’s Tom Price mine, with work expected to be completed by mid-2025.
Lastly, Monadelphous’ fabrication business, Inteforge, has locked in a contract for the supply and fabrication of structural steelwork and pipe racks for Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU) Eneabba Rare Earth’s Refinery Project in Western Australia.
Iluka is building Australia’s first fully integrated rare earths refinery at Eneabba that will produce light and heavy separated rare earth oxides and be capable of processing feedstocks from Iluka’s projects and from a range of third party suppliers.
This includes both mineral sands and rare earths deposits. This development is fully funded under a risk sharing arrangement between Iluka and the Australian Government.
Western Australia is the mineral processing hub of Iluka’s Australian operations.
Work under this contract is also slated for completion in mid-2025.
Monadelphous is an Australian engineering group providing construction, maintenance and industrial services to the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.
