Miners winners and losers as S&P/ASX200 closes lower

Mining stocks were both the biggest winners and losers on Tuesday (8 October) as the S&P/ASX200 closed lower, slipping 28.50 points or 0.35% to 8,176.90. 

The index has lost 0.39% for the past five days and sits 1.31% below its 52-week high.

The bottom performing stocks were IGO (ASX:IGO) and Fortescue (ASX:FMG), down 5.508% and 5.308% respectively. 

Liontown (ASX:LTR) finished 5.114% lower, with Champion Iron (ASX:CIA) also down 4.423%.

Meanwhile, the top performing stocks were West African Resources (ASX:WAF), finishing 7.462% higher, while Vault Minerals (ASX:VAU) closed trade 3.225% up, and Bellevue Gold (ASX:BGL) 2.723% higher.
