Miners struggle on Friday although ASX closes higher

The S&P/ASX200 closed slightly higher on Friday (7 September) gaining 31 points to 8,013.40 and crossing above its 20-day moving average.

The index has now lost 0.97% for the past five days and remains 1.66% below its 52-week high.

Some mining companies, however, had a tough day on the market with the biggest declines coming from Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS), which close 6.590% down, Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC) which was 5.565% lower, and Deep Yellow (ASX:DYL), which declined 5.528%.

Paladin Energy (ASX:PDN) closed 4.909% lower, while Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) again finished trade on the decline, closing on Friday 4.814% down.
