The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has dropped 10.8 points today (7 August) to 8,832.9 points as of 10.20am AEST, though nine of 11 sectors are performing higher.
The S&P/ASX200 index has gained 1.03% over the last five days, with the materials sector jumping 3.42% today.
Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) is leading the gains with a 4.89% increase, trading at $2.89 per share. The company released its FY26 guidance this morning, which expects to produce between 345,000-385,000 ounces of gold from its assets.
Vault Minerals (ASX:VAU) is also up 1.85% to a share price of $0.41, though not releasing any news. The company presented at this week’s Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, on the opening day of the forum.

The S&P/ASX200 is Australia’s leading share market index and contains the top 200 ASX-listed companies in terms of market capitalisation, and accounts for about 80% of the country’s equity market.
The index is designed to measure the performance of the 200 largest index-eligible stocks listed on the ASX by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
It is recognised as the institutional investable benchmark in the country.
