The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has dropped 9.6 points at market open this week (14 July), seeing a 0.11% decline to 8,570.5 points at 10.25am (AEST).
The S&P/ASX200 is mixed as six sectors are down and five are up, including the materials sector rising 0.80% as the second best performing group on the platform.
Vault Minerals (ASX:VAU) is charting first on the gains list after no news, boosting its share price by 3.2% to $0.40 this morning.
Regis Resources (ASX:RRL) is also up 2.7% at a new trading price of $3.63. The company, which has a market capitalisation of $3.37 billion, recently announced its quarterly production saw a $150 million cash and bullion build.
Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU) is following closely behind with a 2.12% increase to $3.61 per share after updating the market of its daily buy-back this morning.
South32 (ASX:S32) is the only materials company making the top five declines, dropping 3.85% to a share price of $2.99. The company is currently attempting to secure a Mozal Aluminium smelter as its electricity agreement is set to expire in March 2026.
The S&P/ASX200 is Australia’s leading share market index and contains the top 200 ASX-listed companies in terms of market capitalisation, and accounts for about 80% of the country’s equity market. The index is designed to measure the performance of the 200 largest index-eligible stocks listed on the ASX by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
It is recognised as the institutional investable benchmark in the country.
