Midas Minerals uncovers several areas of lithium pegmatite pathfinder elements at Lake Seabrook Project, WA 

Junior exploration company Midas Minerals (ASX:MM1) reports it has identified several areas of lithium pegmatite pathfinder elements following an initial auger surface geochemical sampling program at its Lake Seabrook Project in Western Australia. 

The results, generated by a total of 567 auger geochemical samples, have confirmed the presence of anomalous lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pathfinder elements, which is indicative of fractionation of the granite and pegmatite in these areas. 

The newly-found LCT pathfinder elements were discovered in an area that has returned anomalous lithium (Li), tantalum (Ta), tin (Sn), caesium (Cs), niobium (Nb), bismuth (Bi) and molybdenum (Mo) within clusters that boast potential for lithium bearing pegmatites. 

Following this discovery, it is reported that Midas will undertake further mapping and geochemical sampling to define and prioritise potential drill targets.      

Addressing the discovery of lithium pathfinder elements, Midas Minerals Managing Director Mark Calderwood says: “Lake Seabrook’s clusters of anomalous LCT pathfinder elements in geochemistry are encouraging and require further work to refine and prioritise targets.

The presence of variable metal zonation is indicative that the host granite and abundant pegmatites have undergone a level of fractionation. We plan to complete further mapping in early 2023 to understand the mineralogy of the pegmatites, distribution of greenstone remnants and variability of the granite.”

The company also notes that this discovery comes following additional discoveries of lithium mineralisation from reverse circulation (RC) pegmatite drilling at its Newington Lithium-Gold Project also located in Western Australia, as announced by the company in November this year.  

Midas Minerals is a junior mineral exploration company based in Western Australia that is targeting the discovery of economic gold and lithium mineral deposits. The company’s Lake Seabrook tenement is located about 33km northeast of the township of Southern Cross in Western Australia’s Goldfields region and comprises 2 exploration licences that cover a total land area of 94.3km-square. 

The project area is situated about 80km southeast of its Newington Project and is dominated by post-tectonic granite and pegmatite with some remnant rafts of mafic rocks.  

With the recent auger surface geochemical sampling program at the project now complete, Midas Minerals announces that further mapping and geochemistry surveys will be conducted in Q1 of next calendar year.
