Midas Minerals defines ‘robust’ gold anomalies at Weebo Project in WA

Midas Minerals (ASX:MM1) has identified multiple ‘robust’ anomalies following the return of further ‘strong’ gold geochemical results from a sampling program undertaken at its Weebo Gold and Nickel Project in Western Australia.

The results, generated by 722 samples gathered from the project as part of a late-2022 auger geochemical sampling program, have returned gold grades up to 6g/t Au and have also uncovered several ‘robust’ gold anomalies which have been refined to drill-ready status following completion of heritage surveys in 2022.

Midas reports the results also warranted the restart of extensional auger sampling with the aim of defining additional targets ahead of proposed drilling.

Drilling is expected to test a number of geochemical and electromagnetic anomalies in addition to areas which returned ‘significant’ intercepts in 2022 reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

The late-2022 sampling program was designed to define and refine areas of anomalism from prior auger geochemical sampling and rock chip sampling.

Commenting on the results, Midas Minerals Managing Director, Mark Calderwood, says: “Our Weebo gold and nickel project is in a prodigious location within the Yandal greenstone belt between Northern Star’s Thunderbox gold mine and Orelia development, and east of the BHP Leinster nickel mine.

“Weebo’s gold and EM anomalies represent excellent drill targets and the company expects to be ready to undertake drilling in Q3 CY2023.”

Weebo’s gold and EM anomalies represent excellent drill targets and the company expects to be ready to undertake drilling in Q3 CY2023. Results from our current geochemistry program, which should be to hand in June 2023, will be included to define additional targets.”

The company also notes results have been returned following the discovery of abundant coarse spodumene within a known pegmatite outcrop at its 102km-square Greenbush Lithium Project, as announced by Midas last week.

Midas reports additional pegmatite outcrops were also noted across the Greenbush project area and plans to begin mapping and sampling in May 2023.

Midas Minerals is an ASX-listed junior mineral exploration company with a portfolio of lithium and gold projects located across Western Australia and Ontario, Canada.

The company’s Weebo project is situated at a tier one location within the Yandal greenstone belt of Western Australia and comprises a total land area of 323km-square between the Thunderbox and Bronzewing gold mines, which are considered prospective for gold and nickel.

Other assets within Midas Minerals’ exploration portfolio include the Newington Lithium-Gold Project and Challa Gold, Nickel-Copper-PGE Project in Western Australia, as well as the Greenbush Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada.
