Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) has reported operational updates on its Bauxite Hills Mine following Tropical Cyclone Narelle at Cape York, North Queensland on Friday 20 March.
Ahead of the cyclone, Metro commenced implementation of its cyclone management plan as early as 17 March, covering activities including equipment tie down and mobilisation of marine assets to cyclone moorings.
Together with charter flight partners, SmartLynx (East Air) and Torres Strait Air, the site and the marine teams moved to skeleton crew status on 20 March.
Metro Mining notes that the wind speeds and rainfall did not impact the site infrastructure during the cyclone.
On 22 March, crew remobilisation flights commenced and continue on 23 March, with mining activities already recommencing.
