Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) has announced the appointment of Rudi Cohrssen as General Counsel and Company Secretary, effective 1 July 2026.
Cohrssen is qualified as a lawyer in Australia, South Africa, and Namibia. He joins from the Victorian Bar, where he practised across corporate and commercial law, arbitration, employment law, environmental law, and natural resources law.
Metro Mining says Cohrssen has worked with and advised global resource companies on strategy, risk, commercial and corporate law, cross border arbitration, and business development.
He previously worked as an academic and taught various legal subjects at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Cohrssen is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Current General Counsel and Company Secretary Robin Bates will remain until 31 July to ensure a smooth transition. Bates has served the company for three and a half years.
Metro Mining operates the Bauxite Hills Mine on the Weipa bauxite plateau, approximately 95km north of Weipa in Far North Queensland. The company produces high alumina bauxite and ships directly to customers in ore carriers.
