Metro implements new management operating system

Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) CEO Simon Wensley says the company is implementing a new management operating system to increase “performance and enhanced reliability of each component” in the supply chain.

“This integrated approach will underpin targeted full achievement of our expanded operating strategy with another year of record shipments and a greater than 20% reduction in freight on board operating costs per tonne,” Wensley says.

“To enable this, with the support of our board of directors, I have made changes to the executive leadership team bringing in new, highly experienced leaders and changing some accountabilities with the existing team.

“This model also provides for rapid scalability as we look to add further assets to the Metro portfolio.”

This new management operating system includes the appointment of Paul Green as Executive General Manager Operations.

Green has experience in production, maintenance, and as a safety leader, previously working with companies such as BHP (ASX:BHP), Idemitsu (TYO:5019), and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO).

The company has also appointed Troy McMillan as General Manager of People and Culture. McMillan has experience as a HR transformational leader with experience in mining, including alumina refining, smelting and manufacturing, and blasting services.

Metro CFO Nathan Quinlin will assume oversight over the supply chain integrated planning, operation performance, and margin optimisation. His role will be supported by General Manager Technical Services and Projects Matthew Graham, and General Manager Marine Services Vincenzo de Falco.

Metro Mining is a bauxite producer, focused on its 100% owned Bauxite Hills Mine north of Weipa, near the coast of the Skardon River in north Queensland.
