Metal Powder Works (ASX:MPW) has entered into a $1 million contract for a unique, mobile, and containerised version of its patented DirectPowder system with the US Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).
The contract scope includes design, assembly, and delivery of the DirectPowder system with the project expected to be completed within 12 weeks. The delivery is scheduled before the end of 2025.
This capability will provide the US Navy and its allies with the ability to produce high-quality metal powders in remote, austere, or contested environments – directly supporting fleet activities, readiness, and operational flexibility.
As part of the agreement, Metal Powder – which has a $277.28 million market capitalisation – will deliver an expeditionary version of its patented DirectPowder process.
This system is designed to enable rapid, onsite production of high-quality metal powders in challenging and remote environments, supporting the Navy’s operational and maintenance needs.
Managing Director John Barnes says the expeditionary version of the DirectPowder system allows the Navy to manufacture critical metal powders in forward deployments.
“This contract validates our technology’s adaptability and opens significant opportunities for future defence and expeditionary applications,” Barnes says.
Metal Powders’ DirectPowder system enables the conversion of standard metal bar stock into uniform, precise metal powders. The solution is containerised and designed for rapid deployment and easy integration into expeditionary manufacturing.
