McLaren targets namesake project resource expansion

McLaren Minerals (ASX:MML) is targeting an indicated and inferred resource estimate of 529 million tonnes at its namesake titanium project in Western Australia with drilling to begin next month.

The company will conduct 13,000m of drilling at the McLaren deposit within the project to upgrade areas from indicated to measured, as well as upgrading select inferred areas to indicated, and extending the resource to the southern extent along strike.

McLaren will also target corridor growth along the eastern Shoreline target in this resource upgrade and expansion campaign.

Along with an upgrade to the current resource estimate, drilling is designed to estimate a maiden ore reserve for the McLaren Project.

Data collected from this campaign will help guide a Bankable Feasibility Study.

Managing Director Simon Finnis says the company is focused on derisking the greater project by lifting the deposit into higher confidence categories to upscale the development plan.

“The structured approach to classification upgrade and extension drilling positions the project strongly for its next phase,” Finnis says.

“I am particularly excited to see the results of the deeper drilling through the main part of the deposit to confirm whether there is continuity of the high-grade lens, and the outcome of our exploratory drilling into the potential eastern shoreline.”

Meanwhile, McLaren has lodged five applications to increase its footprint at the project with additional tenements. The lodged applications cover an area of 178km2, which once granted will expand the project to a total area of 512km2.

McLaren Minerals is a mineral explorer focused on developing its namesake titanium project in the Eucla Basin of Western Australia.
