Matsa set for Devon’s maiden gold pour

Matsa Resources (ASX:MAT) expects the first gold pour from the group’s Devon Pit Gold Mine in Western Australia within seven days of processing targeting delivery of gold doré to the Perth Mint for refining soon after.

Devon is now fully operational and ore is being mined and stockpiled at site. Haulage to the FMR processing plant has begun, with the first 2,000 tonnes of a planned 50,000 tonne parcel having been delivered this week.

Executive Chairman Paul Poli says the development progress at Devon has been “excellent” and things are getting “exciting”.

“The mine setup, infrastructure and material and equipment movement planning has fallen into place nickel and whilst results so far are very pleasing, we are not getting distracted from ensuring the first 50,000 tonne parcel of high-grade ore from Devon is delivered on time for a September quarter processing campaign, and importantly, our first gold sales,” Poli says.

“Road train haulage to FMR is now running around the clock, currently running six road trains and ramping up to 10 in the later part of August 2025 and into September.”

Poli adds once completed, Matsa will assess its other assets for opportunities to bring them into production leveraging off the current Devon operation.

“Matsa is in a good position right now, has a great project in Lake Carey and we’re excited with the prospects ahead as we transition into a producer,” he says.

Currently, the Devon Pit Mine is expected to operate for 18 months, selling in excess of 40,000 ounces of gold. Matsa’s second processing campaign is scheduled to begin mid-December 2025.

As of 12pm AEST, gold’s spot price sat at US$3,349.8 ($5,140.46) per ounce on Tuesday (12 August), as reported by Trading Economics.
