The Gold Coast Gold Conference closed up at 6pm AEST yesterday, marking the end of two days where gold shines for investors, mining companies, and institutional figures.
Speaking to Mining.com.au on the sidelines of the event, Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) Managing Director Christopher Byrne says that although there appears to be more jitters amongst less experienced investors, there is still a “very strong consensus” across the conference floor.
“I think that people certainly see some pretty unprecedented events occurring at the moment, but the macro thematics really haven’t changed,” Byrne explains.
“Critical minerals, gold, and silver are still sort of safe havens.
“Even with the losses and all the drops in the gold and silver prices, we’re still looking at decade level highs – that macro thematic remains very strong.”
Held at the QT Hotel in Surfers Paradise from 25-26 March, the Gold Coast Gold Conference allowed attendees to gain crucial insights to the current investment scene, network with industry leaders, and address the latest investment strategies.
Guest panelist in the opening discussion of the first day Noah Rule’s Managing Director Sean Russo left the audience with one piece of advice.
“Buy gold,” Russo shares.
“It’s a great time to buy.”
The Managing Director says that while the market has been volatile in recent months, there is still the likelihood that the gold price will make a comeback and grow, though it doesn’t mean the commodity won’t lower again.
Larvotto Resources (ASX:LRV) COO Sonja Neame says similar sentiments to investor talk across the conference. On the first morning, Neame shares that although it’s only early days, sentiment is “really upbeat”.
“We’ve had terrific conversations so far, with happy shareholders coming past looking and wanting to hear updates,” Neame tells this news service.
“I think it’ll be a good two days, it usually is.”
Larvotto is currently streamlining activities at the Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Project in New South Wales, targeting production by mid-2026, as reported by Mining.com.au.
North Stawell Minerals (ASX:NSM) Exploration Manager Scott Duncombe says the conference brought in a “really good turnout” this year, speaking to this news service.
“A lot of people here are always very optimistic,” Duncombe says.
“Being in our industry, especially in exploration, you have to be really positive, which we are at North Stawell Minerals.
“I think it’s all positive, and I think the general trend of the price of gold will only go up.”
At the time of writing, Trading Economics reports the price of gold at US$4412.26 per tonne, representing a 17.11% decrease over the past month within a greater 43.04% increase for this year over year.
The Gold Coast Gold Conference was held from 25-26 March 2026 at the QT Hotel in Surfers Paradise, Queensland.
