Makenita Resources (CSE:KENY | WKN:A40X6P | OTCID:KENYF) says it has identified a drill target on its tungsten project in New Brunswick, Canada, in proximity to one of the world’s largest reserves of the critical mineral.
Earlier this year, the company completed an airborne magnetic survey over its Makenita property.
Combining the collected data with historic aeromagnetic datasets, Makenita’s team found a local magnetic high directly on Makenita ground.
The company says the anomaly may represent a new secondary intrusion at depth on the western flank of the large central Devonian Howard Peak Granodiorite.
Makenita believes the target occurs in a geological environment similar to that of the Sisson tungsten-molybdenum deposit to the northeast.
“We were pleasantly surprised by how clear the structures appear on the property,” Makenita President Jason Gigliotti said.
“It’s very encouraging, and the next step is to get in there as quickly as possible, drill-test the target, and see what we actually have in the ground.”
The Sisson Project, backed by New Zealand industrial conglomerate Todd Corporation, represents one of the world’s most significant tungsten reserves, with more than 22 million tonnes. It also holds nearly 155 million pounds of molybdenum.
Tungsten has become a “battleground mineral” for its unparalleled properties that make it indispensable to defence manufacturing, aerospace, and advanced tooling.

Rising military and industrial demand has supported tungsten prices in recent years, while export controls imposed by China, which accounts for more than 80% of global supply, have tightened availability.
“It’s typically supply and demand constraints,” Gigliotti said.
“Right now, there’s much greater demand, while companies and governments are trying to secure larger quantities. That psychology of rising demand also creates fewer sellers and adds momentum to the market.”
The current geopolitical landscape has made both the United States and Canada mark tungsten as a critical mineral. In an effort to bolster North American supply, both governments have made funding commitments to promising projects, including Sisson.
In November 2025, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney chose Northcliff Resources’ Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project in New Brunswick to be added to his government’s major projects list.

According to Makenita, the mapped features are interpreted to represent a structural setting similar to that associated with vein-hosted mineralisation at Sisson.

The company says the findings strengthen the case that Makenita’s ground lies along a favourable structural trend rather than being geologically isolated from Sisson.
“New Brunswick is a very mining-friendly province, and the project is directly beside the Sisson deposit, one of Canada’s first nation-building projects,” Gigliotti said. “We’re right next to one of the country’s major, high-pedigree mining projects, so we’re very excited about the opportunity.”
“This is very significant news for Makenita. We now have what appears to be a clearly defined drill target with similar characteristics to the Sisson tungsten deposit next door,” he added.
Gigliotti said the company now plans to develop a drilling program to test the target.
Makenita Resources is a Canadian junior exploration company focused on pursuing large-scale mineral deposits.
