Los Cerros extends Tesorito gold mineralisation with wide step-out intercepts

Los Cerros (ASX: LCL) has reported high grade gold intercepts from step-out drilling at the Tesorito gold porphyry discovery within its Quinchia Gold Project in Colombia.

The program, which includes four diamond rigs, has provided a number of thick highlight intercepts from the deposit’s southern edge including:

    • Hole TS-DH34: 236m @ 1.0g/t Au from surface; including
      • 26m @ 2.14g/t Au from 6m and
      • 27.5m @ 2.73g/t Au from 121.5m
    • Hole TS-DH35: 211m @ 0.8g/t Au from surface; including
      • 64.6m @ 1.25g/t Au from 128m
    • Hole TS-DH37: 339m @ 0.54g/t Au from surface; including
      • 20m @ 1.0g/t Au from 10m and
      • 23.7m @ 1.0g/t Au from 177m

In addition, step-out drilling to the north has almost doubled the footprint of outer, lower-grade gold modelled envelopes, confirming a connection with Tesorito North.

Intercepts have delivered longer, low-grade results including:

    • Hole TS-DH31: 114m @ 0.53g/t Au from 358m
    • Hole TS-DH32: 226m @ 0.5g/t Au from 120m
    • Hole TS-DH33: 550m @ 0.5g/t Au from 34m
    • Hole TS-DH36: 480m @ 0.42g/t Au from surface; including
      • 8m @ 1.36g/t Au from 472m (crossed the west fault)
    • Hole TS-DH39: 376.2m @ 0.5g/t Au from 16m; including
      • 8.0m @ 1.44g/t Au from 100m

Importantly, at 392m Hole TS-DH36 crossed the west fault marking the western edge of the Tesorito porphyry suite, encountering andesites and diorites until the end of hole at 661.8m. The above-mentioned intercept of 8m @ 1.36g/t Au from 472m represents the highest gold grade achieved west of the fault, and is close to a recently-reported ‘significant’ IP target.

We are increasingly confident that Tesorito South and Tesorito North mineralisation form part of the same gold porphyry”

Addressing the news, Los Cerros Managing Director Jason Stirbinskis said: “We are increasingly confident that Tesorito South and Tesorito North mineralisation form part of the same gold porphyry – the Tesorito Gold Porphyry, currently defined over a 600m length.

The new northern IP target occurs under a topographic high. It might represent a further extension of the Tesorito Gold Porphyry and indicate a source for the expanse of lower grade gold mineralisation defined by drill intersections which extend northward.

Step out drilling to the south is delivering very encouraging potential for further expansion of gold envelopes in this direction and there still remains scope for further expansion to the east.”

Moving forward, Los Cerros has recruited a fifth diamond drill rig, capable of drilling NQ diameter holes to around 1,200m. This will be used to test a range of new geophysics targets, and is expected to commence work by the end of November 2021.
