Latrobe Magnesium (ASX:LMG) founder and chief executive David Paterson is set to retire on 30 September 2026 after two decades of leading the company.
Robert Stein will assume the role from October 2026. Stein brings 20 years of sector experience across technical, financial, and commercial roles, including past positions at BHP (ASX:BHP), MMG (HKEX:1208), and Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG).
Additionally, former Newcrest Mining General Manager Project Delivery Peter Mizera joins as independent Chairman of the Board’s Construction and Completions Committee to oversee capital works and project development.
LMG notes Paterson will remain available as a consultant.
Chairman Jock Murray expresses his gratitude to Paterson for his commitment and energy in achieving operational status for LMG’s unique Hydromet process.
“Put simply, Hydromet could not have reached production of magnesium oxide were it not for this commitment,” Murray says.
Latrobe Magnesium is developing a magnesium metal demonstration plant in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley using its patented extraction process.
