Lightning Minerals (ASX:L1M) has reported ‘exceptional’ tungsten grades from initial rock chip sampling at its Warby Project in North Queensland.
The company returned tungsten values ranging from 750 parts per million (ppm) to over 50,000ppm tungsten from 14 rock chip samples collected across eight individual vein systems within a 2km structural corridor.
Standout results include 43,200ppm tungsten (4.32%) from quartz vein material and 42,900ppm tungsten (4.29%) from another quartz vein sample.
The tungsten mineralisation occurs within a northwest-trending structural corridor hosted within the Meso-Proterozoic Lyndbrook Complex adjacent to the Angor Granite.
“The initial assay results are a strong outcome … and confirm widespread high-grade tungsten mineralisation across multiple historical workings,” CEO Troy Brice says.
“This gives us confidence … to define the scale and continuity of the mineralisation. We’re looking forward to our follow-up field exploration aimed at expanding our understanding of the broader tungsten system at Warby.”
The company notes that limited outcrop exposure and dense vegetation cover may conceal additional mineralised veins within the broader target area.
Lightning Minerals plans follow-up exploration programs in Q3 2026 aimed at defining the broader footprint and continuity of tungsten mineralisation.
Tungsten is classified as a critical mineral by several Western governments, and recent market commentary has highlighted tightening global supply conditions following export restrictions by China.
