Lightning Minerals (ASX:L1M) reports it will be targeting an 8km-square lithium-in-soil anomaly through an infill auger drilling program at its wholly owned Dundas South Project in Western Australia.
The company states that a recently completed reconnaissance soil sampling campaign returned elevated lithium anomalism within tenements E63/2000 and E63/1993.
A follow-up target was identified within E63/2000, where a broad, more than 80 parts per million (ppm) tenor lithium-in-soil geochemical anomaly has been discovered over an 8km-square area. Additionally, a smaller anomaly of the same tenor is also present within E63/1993.

Commenting on the infill program, Lightning Minerals Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alex Biggs says: “The planned works on tenement E63/1993 provide the potential for a second drill target beyond our planned drilling on E63/2001.
This is a demonstration of completing diligent and focused work programs on areas that we have always believed to be highly prospective with a view to being able to start drilling.”
Follow-up exploration is currently being planned for the anomalous zone, with the aim to progress toward drilling. Lightning Minerals reports field works will be conducted once it is practicably possible, with 2,200 infill samples designed to further refine the anomalous area.
Additionally, reverse circulation (RC) and aircore (AC) drilling activities have been proposed and approved for the E63/2001 tenement. The company states approvals are advanced and are expected to be finalised in the near term.
The Dundas project area is located near Norseman in Western Australia and consists of 8 tenements totalling 454km-square.
Historically, both the Norseman and Dundas areas have experienced mining in gold and nickel, however over recent years the region has become an emerging lithium and critical minerals province with multiple discoveries and ‘significant’ exploration activity.
