Lightning Minerals (ASX:L1M) has confirmed a new drill target at its Dundas South Project in Western Australia from where soil sampling assays returned values of more than 100 parts per million (ppm) lithium.
The lithium in-soil anomaly has been defined over a 2.6km by 1km area within tenement E63/2000.
Follow-up drill testing using a multipurpose drill rig within E63/2000 will begin as a priority in early 2024. The company is currently planning drilling activities, with a Program of Works (PoW) in place and heritage surveys complete.
Lightning Minerals Managing Director Alex Biggs says this recent sampling work has confirmed the previously reported lithium in-soil anomalism identified in March this year.
“Importantly, the clustering of these results provides us with confidence to effectively drill-test priority areas in early 2024. With the heritage survey also now complete, we are finalising drill locations.”

During early 2023, Lightning Minerals conducted a first-pass reconnaissance soil geochemistry program comprising 1,391 soil samples at Dundas. Of these, 682 samples were collected, which defined a broad lithium-in-soil anomaly over a 8km-square area, including a peak value of 218ppm lithium.
The subsequent follow-up infill program that has now been completed has defined the anomalous lithium areas to better understand the location and potential orientation of the anomalism. This work returned a peak lithium assay of 177ppm.
Samples were analysed at Labwest Laboratories using the Ultrafine+ (UFF+) method with chemical analysis for a suite of 62 elements, including lithium and associated pathfinders for lithium mineralisation.
The company adds that further infill geochemical soil campaigns are being planned to begin next year.

The Dundas South Project sits near Norseman in Western Australia, covering an area of 454km-square.
Lightning Minerals is a critical minerals and lithium-focused explorer with assets across Western Australia.
As of 30 September 2023, the company had $3.51 million cash at hand, according to its latest quarterly report.
