Battery minerals focused company Lightning Minerals (ASX:L1M) reports it has encountered multiple pegmatite occurrences following a recent site visit at its 100% owned Dundas Project in Western Australia (WA).
The pegmatite intrusion outcrops were observed during a recent site visit by company geologists and Lightning’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alex Biggs. Since the site visit, the company sent rock chip samples for analysis to determine if the pegmatites are prospective for Lithium-Caesium-Tantalum (LCT) mineralisation.
It is also reported that the company has commenced interpretation of geophysical survey data with a view of developing ‘high confidence’ targets for exploration drilling.
However, Lightning notes that the reporting of pegmatites are not indicative of mineralisation and it warrants further exploration work including an assessment of the current soil and rock chip samples to confirm the presence of any mineralisation.
Addressing the discovery, Lightning Minerals CEO, Alex Biggs says: “The early identification of pegmatite intrusions is extremely positive. Rock chip samples from outcrops and the initial batch of soil samples have been sent to the lab for analysis. The company also notes that the intrusion occurrences have been observed across 5 separate sites, within 4 exploration licences, totalling 15 pegmatite exposures.
Further investigation is required to determine the relationship of intrusions and the geochemical make-up of individual pegmatites as a number of them have been seen cross-cutting each other.
In addition, pegmatites identified in the northern area of the tenement are noted to display no cross-cutting relations and appear to demonstrate a north to north-westerly trend.
