Lightning concludes phase two tungsten exploration at Warby

Lightning Minerals (ASX:L1M) has wrapped up its phase two exploration program at the Warby Tungsten Project in North Queensland, with assay results expected in August.

The company collected approximately 90 soil, stream sediment, and rock chip samples across priority tungsten targets identified during the phase one program.

Lightning is currently reviewing the data, with samples to be submitted to ALS Laboratories in Townsville, Queensland, for tungsten and multi-element analysis.

Alongside sampling, the phase two program involved detailed geological mapping and systematic sampling across a 2km-long structural corridor centred on historical tungsten workings associated with the Angor Granite contact.

Managing Director Troy Brice says completing phase two is another important milestone for the Warby Project.

“The work has given us a much stronger geological dataset that will help refine our understanding of the scale, orientation, and continuity of the tungsten system,” Brice says.

Warby’s phase two program builds on exploration results from May and June 2026, which confirmed tungsten mineralisation associated with wolframite-bearing quartz veins developed adjacent to the Angor Granite.

Brice says tungsten continues to strengthen its position as a strategically important critical mineral, underpinned by demand from defence, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.

“We’re looking forward to receiving the assay results and combining them with what we have learnt in the field to decide where we focus phase three and our first drill targets,” Brice says.

Upon receipt of results, Lightning intends to complete dataset interpretation, integrate assays with structural mapping and historical exploration, and rank anomalies before finalising phase three planning and initial drill targets.

Lightning Minerals is an Australian explorer and developer focused on advancing gold and copper assets in tier one mining jurisdictions.
