Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has received two additional drilling approvals from the state government for its Mt Carrington Project in New South Wales.
The company has been approved to conduct drilling across eight additional holes at the Mascotte silver-gold prospect in Mt Carrington.
Holes in phase two will be drilled to a depth of 500m for a total of 4,000m, targeting structural and geochemical extensions from previous intercepts such as 40m @ 1 gram per tonne gold from 151m (including 9m @ 2.7g/t gold from 180m) and 18.3m @ 237g/t silver from 3m (including 9.1m @ 394g/t silver).
The program will step out from phase one, which covered 1,841m of drilling across eight holes and was completed on 30 March 2026.
Legacy is awaiting assay results from seven holes in the initial drilling program. The initial hole revealed a new discovery at the project, returning grades up to 5.6g/t gold and 72g/t silver.
The company also received approval for eight diamond drill holes at the Emu copper-gold prospect, designed to test the Emu porphyry core and Emu alteration halo southeast targets.
CEO Christopher Byrne says the company is continuing gold, silver, and copper exploration with its discovery-focused approach across the Mt Carrington Project.
“This follows the recently released Scoping Study, which demonstrates the compelling financials of the Mt Carrington Project as a significant Australian gold and silver asset,” Byrne says.
“These two new drilling approvals at Mascotte and Emu, totalling 8,000 meters, represent new discovery opportunities on the project as part of this dual-track strategy of discovery and development.
“With phase one drilling already completed and drilling assays pending at the Mascotte silver-gold prospect, the phase two approval allows us to drill follow-up holes, immediately stepping out from and below the highest-grade historical silver intercepts.
“Copper is the primary target of the Emu prospect, with widespread copper recognised across the target zone and mined historically.
“Our team has been integrating historical geological data with recent airborne mobile magnetotellurics geophysics with compelling results across porphyry-epithermal targets last drilled 50 years ago.”
