Legacy Minerals cements future with exploration at new Black Range Project in NSW

Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has started exploration activities at the newly pegged Black Range Project, located in the Central Lachlan Fold Belt of New South Wales.

The company has planned to develop the low sulphidation epithermal project through systematic exploration work including data compilation and reprocessing, geological mapping, rock chip sampling, and petrography, before assessing the benefits of undertaking further geophysical or geochemical surveys, including drill campaigns.

Legacy states the project is ‘largely’ underexplored and hosts low to intermediate sulphidation mineralisation in association with ‘large-scale’ silica-sericite-pyrite alteration zones, up to 2.5km-square.

Results from historical soil geochemical sampling at the Sugarbag Hill Prospect have defined a 2.5km-square footprint of gold, arsenic, lead, and zinc anomalism

Results from historical soil geochemical sampling at the Sugarbag Hill Prospect have defined a 2.5km-square footprint of gold, arsenic, lead, and zinc anomalism.

Commenting on this exploration journey, Legacy Minerals Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, Christopher Byrne says: “We consider Black Range to be a highly prospective and underexplored system, with key prospects like Sugarbag Hill having last seen on ground exploration in 1992 by Newcrest Mining.

We’ve begun the process of applying our systematic exploration approach and modern geophysics to the project.

After the learnings and success achieved at the Bauloora low-sulphidation epithermal project, we began a search of NSW for low-sulphidation systems that presented similar opportunities.”

The Black Range Project is in the Central Lachlan Fold Belt in New South Wales, which hosts ‘world-class’ copper-gold orebodies. The project covers an area of 905km-square of volcanics prospective for low-sulphidation epithermals.

Legacy Minerals is an ASX-listed public company that has been involved in the acquisition and exploration of gold, copper, and base-metal projects in the Lachlan Fold Belt since 2017.
