Latin Resources (ASX:LRS) reports the presence of further ‘high-grade’ lithium mineralisation following resource definition diamond drilling (DD) at its 100% owned Colina Lithium Prospect in Brazil.
Ongoing diamond drilling is on track for the delivery of the scheduled maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) for the Colina Prospect in December this year, with over one third of the planned 100 drillholes now complete, totaling about 8,451m of drilling.
The results continue to show strong down-dip continuity of both grade and thickness, with key intercepts including:
- Hole SADD023: 26.88m @ 1.40% Li2O from 94m, incl. 18.00m @ 1.61% Li2O from 97m
- Hole SADD026: 28.80m @ 1.16% Li2O from 307m, incl. 14.80m @ 1.51% Li2O from 321m
- Hole SADD024: 10.00m @ 1.05% Li2O from 186m and; 2.00m @ 0.64% Li2O from 293m

Commenting on the results, Latin Resources Exploration Manager Tony Greenaway said: “Our latest results continue to show excellent high-grade lithium intersections and continuity of the pegmatites along strike and down dip. We are well on schedule to deliver our maiden JORC Resource in December which is an exciting milestone for the company.

Further to our extremely promising first pass results from our sighter metallurgical test work program, we will be collecting additional samples for further sighter test work in the coming weeks to further explore the optimal crush size and optimise the larger test work flowsheet for the planned detailed PEA program.
I am also pleased to have our regional teams out mapping at Salinas South where we know we have more outcropping pegmatites. Our plan is to work-up these areas to drill-ready status, and then in the near term commence drilling to begin testing these new areas.”
The company also notes that a series recently commenced metallurgical testwork programs have returned initial results, with first pass sighter test work demonstrating a high recovery of 78.72% of the Li2O into a concentrate grading 6.57% Li2O.
Additional sighter test work is set to commence to further explore the crush size and heavy liquid separation cut points, in order to optimise the larger test work flowsheet and support the planned detailed Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).
In addition, Latin’s regional mapping teams have recommended regional mapping activities focused on the Salinas South tenement area, where previous work has identified a lithium corridor over a distance of 4km.
The recommended regional mapping will focus in this area to refine the initial drill results and potentially extend geochemical sampling along the full extent of the mapped prospective corridor.
Latin Resources is an Australian-based mineral exploration company, with projects in South America and Australia, including its 100% owned Colina Prospect which is located about 17.0km to the northeast of its neighbouring Salinas South Prospect within Brazil’s Minas Gerais region. The tenement areas are prospective for lithium mineralisation and have returned peak grades of 3.22% and 3.07% Li2O, with pegmatite swarms remaining open in all directions.
With the current resource definition DD campaign still ongoing, Latin Resources announces that it remains focused on defining a maiden JORC MRE for December 2022.
