Krakatoa Resources (ASX:KTA) has confirmed ‘high grade’ gold and antimony at the Zopkhito Project in the Caucasus region of Georgia after returning drill results.
The company says these results validate the historically uncovered ‘high grade’ mineralisation at the project, with recent assays confirming gold and antimony both from the surface and underground.
Assays retrieved from surface drilling include 8m @ 14.1 grams per tonne gold from 8m, including 1.5m @ 38.5g/t from 13m and 3m @ 1.48% antimony from 10m, and 7m @ 3g/t gold from 66.86m, including 1m @ 15.9g/t from 67.86m and 1m @ 0.47% antimony.
Assays retrieved from underground drilling include 4.99m @ 6.4g/t gold and 5.07% antimony from 4m, including 0.63m @ 19.55% antimony from 5m and 0.35m @ 23.1% antimony from 7.4m, and 1.93m @ 7.59% antimony and 5.04g/t gold from 4.87m.
Results from this drilling campaign will be incorporated into metallurgical testwork this year, along with additional surface and underground drilling.
The company’s 2026 exploration scope will also include mapping and baseline environmental studies, as well as mineral assessments and gold emplacement studies.
Krakatoa retrieved 274 samples from 15 surface drilled diamond holes, along with 119 samples from 18 short core sampling holes during the later part of the company’s 2025 field season.
CEO Mark Major says the results from this maiden exploration campaign have strengthened the prospectivity of the deposit.
“The objective during 2025 was to test the high-grade narrow vein system in several areas between the historic adits. Areas which had been classified for mining under their mining code,” Major says.
“We successfully hit veins in the areas we targeted, supporting some of the predicted vein and mineralisation trends established during the Soviet era of exploration.
“This will add considerable elements for the future conversion of the foreign resource to a JORC system.
“There is clearly a major antimony mineral system here, one which seems to be consistent with typical structural controlled vein systems; however, the confirmation of additional gold within the antimony vein and further into the surrounding system add another significant positive windfall to the project.”
Located in the Racha region of Georgia, Zopkhito has a resource of 26,000 tonnes of antimony and more than 800,000 ounces of gold, uncovered in historical exploration.
Krakatoa Resources is advancing the Zopkhito Project in Georgia, while also exploring for other critical and precious metals in Australia.
