Trek finds manganese where it wasn’t looking

Sometimes exploration gives you exactly what you didn’t ask for.

Mining.com.au catches up with Trek Metals (ASX:TKM) CEO Derek Marshall on the floor at the Resources Rising Stars Investor Conference in Queensland after fresh assays from the Kuro manganese discovery in Western Australia.

Derek breaks down the surprise find:

Discovery: Kuro was found while the team was chasing rare earths
Grade: Surface rock returned around 60% manganese
Drilling: ‘High grades’ are continuing below surface
Scale: Trek is now stepping out across a larger area
Next: Drilling continues as the team tests how far Kuro can run

They went looking for rare earths.
