Kodiak Copper advancing MPD Project on trajectory | Beaver Creek 2026

Mining.com.au spoke with Claudia Tornquist, President and CEO of Kodiak Copper (TSX-V:KDK), at the 2026 Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, Colorado, US.

She discusses the company’s 100%-owned MPD Copper-Gold Porphyry Project, located in a busy mining hub in British Columbia, Canada. A large-scale drilling campaign is currently around the halfway mark at the project.

Key topics discussed:

  • Major drilling campaign about halfway through
  • First assay results exceed expectations
  • Maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) announced last year set to be updated early next year
  • Favourable jurisdiction near major copper mines
  • On a trajectory to build a big copper porphyry mine

Last year’s MRE left “a lot of room to grow”, and first assay results from current drilling “exceeded expectations”, so all eyes are on the resource update targeted for Q1 2027.

About the guest and company

Claudia Tornquist brings extensive expertise to Kodiak Copper, a mineral explorer and developer focused on advancing its copper porphyry projects in Canada and the US. The company’s most advanced asset is its 100%-owned MPD Copper-Gold Porphyry Project, located in the Quesnel terrane in south-central British Columbia. The area is an established mining region with producing mines and excellent infrastructure. Kodiak is part of Discovery Group, led by John Robins, one of the most successful mining entrepreneurs in Canada.
