Kin Mining intersects high-grade gold at Comedy King

Kin Mining NL (ASX: KIN) has provided an encouraging update on the drilling program at its Cardinia Gold Project (CGP) near Leonora in WA.

The company reported that final assay results were returned from Comedy King and Snowden Well prospect, as part of the drilling program completed in December 2019.

KIN said that new near surface, high-grade zones of mineralisation was identified at Comedy King and narrow zones of mineralisation identified at Snowden Well.

Significant intercepts from Comedy King include 12m at 14.9g/t Au from 4m including 8m at 21.9g/t Au from 8m; 4m at 8.3g/t Au from 20m to EOH; 8m at 3.0g/t Au from 8m; 20m at 2.3g/t Au from 0m; and 12m at 2.7g/t Au from 4m.

Highlights from Snowden Well include 1m at 3.93g/t Au from 38m; 3m at 1.15g/t Au from 34m; and 3m at 1.70g/t Au from 39m.

KIN noted that the broad alteration zone showing numerous ore grade intersections in adjacent holes at Comedy King is indicative of a significant mineralised system.

The company said that the geological logging confirms the new interpretation of epithermal style mineralisation at Comedy King and gold-rich, sulphide replacement mineralisation at Snowden Well.

KIN reported that the remaining Aircore drilling results from Lewis East and Lewis West are expected by mid-February 2020.

The company said that all results would be interpreted before a follow-up drilling program is planned.

    Cardinia Gold Project

Cardinia gold project (CGP) represents the greater portion of the wider Leonora Gold Project located in the Mt Margaret Mineral Field in the centre of the Eastern Goldfields, Province of West Australia.

Cardinia is separated into the Bruno-Lewis system (which includes Kyte), and the Helens system (which includes Fiona and Rangoon). There is a total of 16 deposits within the CGP.

Significant prospects within CGP includes Lewis East, Cardinia west, Comedy King, Black Chief South, Snowden Well, and Lewis West.

    Drilling at Cardinia

The company had recently completed a drilling program in December 2019 at prospects located within 5km of the processing plant site at the Cardinia Gold Project.

The program consisted of 7,881 metres of AC and 880 metres of Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling across six key target areas. They are Comedy King, Snowden Well, Cardinia Hill, Lewis East, Black Chief, and Lewis West prospect. The company said that the targets are prospective for gold-rich sulphide replacement and epithermal vein-hosted gold mineralisation.

The company reported that final assay results have been received from the drilling program.

    High-grade results reported

The company said that the results have identified new, high-grade zones of mineralisation at Comedy King and narrow ore grade mineralisation at Snowden Well.

    Comedy King

At the Comedy King prospect, the December 2019 drilling program completed four lines of aircore drilling for 4,144m oriented to intersect the north dipping veins.

The Comedy King prospect hosts historic drill intercepts of 1m at 40g/t and 2m at 10.1g/t gold produced from RC holes drilled towards the east. The recent rock chip sampling results and mapping have shown that most of the historic workings exploited quartz veins dipping moderately to the north.

    High-grade results

The company reported that in the north of the Comedy King prospect, drilling intersected a number of discrete quartz veins with attendant sulphide mineralisation hosted in Felsic Volcanic rocks.

    Significant vein-style results include 4m at 8.3g/t Au from 20m to EOH (CK19AC037); 4m at 1.7g/t Au from 4m (CK19AC040); 12m at 14.9g/t Au from 4m including 8m at 21.9g/t from 8m (CK19AC070); and 4m at 1.7g/t Au from 4m (CK19AC123).

Meanwhile, in the south of the prospect, AC drilling intersected broad areas of disseminated sulphide alteration with fine quartz veining. This alteration halo appears to be oriented east-west and dip to the north parallel with the quartz vein orientation, and spatially coincident with the interpreted position of the Lewis Fault zone.

    Important Alteration Halo results include 12m at 1.23g/t Au from 28m (CK19AC055); 8m at 3.0g/t Au from 8m (CK19AC056); 8m at 1.8g/t Au from 0m (CK19AC105); 20m at 2.3g/t Au from 0m (CK19AC113);  12m at 2.7g/t Au from 4m (CK19AC114); and 8m at 1.43Au from (CK19AC115).

    Snowden Well

The company reported that a total of 13 RC holes for 880m were drilled along four separate sections at Snowden Well. KIN said that the target sulphidic chert and sediments were intersected in all holes.

    Encouraging results

Kin Mining reported encouraging assay results from Snowden Well.

    Significant assay results include 1m at 3.93g/t Au from 38m (SW19RC001); 3m at 1.15g/t Au from 34m (SW19RC013); and 3m at 1.70g/t Au from 39m (SW19RC004).

    Other prospects

The company said that assays for the remaining 35 AC holes at Lewis East prospect are awaited. The results were previously reported for 12 of the completed 47 holes, which include 53m at 1.24g/t Au from 4m to BOH (LE19AC007).

The company announced that two lines of aircore drilling totalling 43 holes and 641m was completed beneath the extensive soil anomaly, Lewis West prospect. KIN said that geological logging shows mafic rocks with narrow zones of veining and alteration were intersected. All assay results are awaited.

    What’s next?

KIN said that it intends to continue exploration and drilling activities in these areas, with the intention to increase the project’s resources.

The company said that further results from the Lewis East and Lewis West prospect and single metre splits of wide zones of new mineralisation at Cardinia Hill, Lewis East, Black Chief and Comedy King are expected by mid to late February 2020.

    Management comments

KIN’s Managing Director Andrew Munckton said: “The 2019 aircore drilling program completed in December has been a particularly successful campaign which has confirmed our belief that the Cardinia area holds substantial zones of high grade mineralisation in addition to the Mineral Resources that have previously been defined.

The exploration team have made significant new discoveries at Cardinia Hill, Lewis East and now, Comedy King. These latest results confirm the presence of high grade, epithermal vein style mineralisation within broader zones of lower grade mineralisation and alteration at Comedy King.

The Snowden Well RC results also show a strike continuous zone of narrow, ore grade mineralisation consistent with the Chert unit(s) mapped at surface that returned high grade rock chip results.

The results to date are indicative of a large mineralised system at Cardinia and support our exploration objective of identifying new zones of mineralisation with potential to enhance the current CGP mine plan as outlined in the Pre-Feasibility Study completed in mid-2019.

Cardinia Hill, Comedy King and Lewis East appear to be large scale zones of mineralisation which remain open and warrant follow-up drilling, expected later in the current March quarter 2020.

The close proximity to the processing plant site only serves to further enhance the results. We look forward to reporting the remainder of the initial assay results in February 2020.”
