Kalamazoo Resources (ASX:KZR) has reported first assay results from resource definition drilling at the Ashburton Gold Project in the Pilbara, Western Australia, with the first 16 drill holes completed at Mt Olympus.
The 14,000m program is now nearing completion with assay results received for 16 of 65 holes drilled to date. The company notes that these results provide early confirmation of continuity of mineralisation within the main host sequence and highlight key resource conversion areas that support the company’s geological targeting for resource growth.
The assays demonstrate continuity and grade, with multiple broad ‘high-grade’ gold intersections, including:
- 21m @ 6.5 grams per tonne gold from 12m
- 50m @ 2.6g/t gold from 129m
- 45m @ 2g/t gold from 93m
- 63m @ 1.9g/t gold from 105m
- 47m @ 2g/t gold from 79m
- 30m @ 3.6g/t gold from 51m
Kalamazoo has also reported final results from its growth drilling program, with the three holes confirming the continuation of mineralisation up to 300m beneath the conceptual open pit.
The company notes that these results reinforce its underground growth model and provide a good basis for additional drilling to target the Zeo fault and the main mineralised conglomerate host.
Executive Director Ben Ackerman says that the new results are “highly encouraging”.
“The drilling is returning strong high-grade intersections that continue to validate the existing resource model and support the potential conversion of inferred resources to the indicated category,” Ackerman says.
“Encouragingly, drilling has also identified strong grade development at lower reduced levels within the proposed open pit limits currently being assessed in the Prefeasibility Study (PFS), highlighting the potential to add ounces within the planned mining envelope.”
Infill drilling has reduced drill spacing to around 20m x 20m across target areas of the deposit.
Kalamazoo is focused on resource growth beyond the current 1.44-million-ounce gold resource base and production profile of more than 1 million ounces in gold as it transitions from explorer to developer.
The company will continue to release assays as they become available and is targeting an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE) in Q4 2026, with the PFS for Ashburton on schedule for completion in H1 2027.
Kalamazoo Resources is an Australian exploration company with a portfolio of gold and base metals projects in the Central Victorian Goldfields, the Pilbara, and the Murchison in Western Australia.
