Kalamazoo Resources (ASX:KZR) has ‘significantly’ expanded its granted lithium exploration tenure within the Lachlan Fold Belt of northeast Victoria and southern New South Wales.
The company says the exploration tenure has been expanded to about 2,062km-square following the delivery of 3 new granted exploration licences, which is referred to as the “Tallangatta Lithium Project” and covers a total landholding of about 842km-square.
Kalamazoo adds the Tallangatta project area is contiguous with the company’s Jingellic Lithium Project in NSW, and that both projects cover geology considered highly prospective for both pegmatite hosted lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) mineralisation, as well as hard rock tin mineralisation.
The company also notes initial studies and reconnaissance exercises conducted across both projects have confirmed the presence of numerous outcropping pegmatite dykes, and alluvial and hard rock tin-tungsten and tantalum occurrences considered positive indicators for LCT mineralisation.
With the exploration tenure now expanded, Kalamazoo announces it has initiated a proactive community engagement process with all identified stakeholders before employing a ‘low impact’ exploration program comprising regional-scale stream and soil sampling, and field reconnaissance and mapping campaigns.

Addressing the expansion of exploration, Kalamazoo Resources Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman Luke Reinehr says: “We are very pleased with the acquisition of this new exploration ground in Victoria and NSW which we consider highly prospective for lithium. Our increasing focus on lithium exploration as part of our portfolio of assets has led us to identify early-stage opportunities elsewhere.

Identifying such tenure close to our existing gold projects in Victoria is an added bonus. The recent announcement by our JV partner SQM that it intends to explore for lithium with Dart Mining (ASX:DTM) at the Dorchap Project which adjoins our tenure provides us with encouragement that being an early mover in exploring for lithium in the southern Lachlan Fold Belt has excellent potential.”
Kalamazoo Resources is an ASX-listed exploration company working to explore and develop its key gold projects within Victoria and Western Australia. It is also seeking further minerals exploration, acquisition and joint venture (JV) opportunities across Australia.
