Kalamazoo expands Ashburton resource with new drill results

Kalamazoo Resources (ASX:KZR) has reported initial assay results from phase one drilling at the Ashburton Gold Project in Western Australia.

The company aims to expand its current 1.44 million ounce gold resource, with the goal of building a production profile over 1 million ounces.

Drilling at Mt Olympus tested extensions below and down plunge of the $4,000 pit shell outlined in the 2025 scoping study, with five of eight holes reporting results to date.

Key results include 8.8m @ 11 grams per tonne gold from 20.5m, including 2.9m @ 21g/t gold from 22.3m; 43.8m @ 3.4g/t gold from 93m, including 21m @ 4.6g/t gold from 93m; and 30.9m @ 1.5g/t gold from 214.5m, including 9.2m @ 2.4g/t gold from 234.3m.

Executive Director Ben Ackerman says that these results are “highly encouraging”, noting that they confirm the mineralised system extends significantly beyond the current pit shell.

“The program has validated our geological model and reinforces the strong association between gold mineralisation, conglomerate host units, and the Zoe Fault feeder structures,” Ackerman says.

“Following the upcoming resource definition drilling program, we plan to resume growth drilling as we continue to expand the Ashburton Gold Project mineral resource base and build a robust foundation for future studies, with a clear objective of delivering a production profile exceeding one million ounces.”

The program comprised eight diamond drill holes totaling 2,776.2m, designed to test down-plunge extensions beneath the open pit, assess underground resource growth potentials, and improve understanding of structural controls.

Mineralisation has been observed extending around 300m down plunge from the current pit shell.

Kalamazoo plans to commence a resource definition drilling program soon, followed by further growth drilling to expand the Ashburton resource base.

Kalamazoo Resources is focused on its portfolio of gold and base metals projects in the Central Victorian Goldfields, the Pilbara, and the Murchison, Western Australia.
