Kairos Minerals (ASX: KAI) has uncovered ‘extensive’ new lithium-caesium-tantalum targets at its Wodgina Project near Port Hedland.
News of the discoveries comes on the back of a geochemical sampling program which saw the company take 1,517 soil samples across a 200m x 100m spaced grid, with lab results returned for 837 samples so far.
Importantly, two of the targets are situated less than 3km from the Wodgina Lithium Project owned by Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) and Albemarle (NYSE:ALB), which is set to recommence production of spodumene concentrate during Q3 2022.

Addressing the results, Kairos Minerals Executive Chairman Terry Topping said: “We always had high hopes for the lithium prospectivity of our Wodgina Project given its location immediately adjacent to one of the world’s most significant lithium mines, which is set to restart production next year. I think it’s fair to say these early results utilising the state-of-the-art Ultrafine+ soil sampling methodology have exceeded our expectations.
With results received for around two-thirds of the program, we have been able to delineate two large lithium- caesium-tantalum (LCT) targets, one of which extends over a strike length of some 1.7km and is supported by the presence of mapped pegmatites and high-grade spodumene rock chip samples.”

The company reports that these new targets will be prioritised for further testing as part of a broader exploration program within its Pilbara holdings.
Mapping and rock chip sampling is scheduled to commence upon the receipt of the balance of assay results, with the goal of refining targets and identifying drill locations.
The project, which sits within Western Australia’s Tier-1 Pilbara lithium precinct, houses an existing JORC-compliant gold indicated resource of 8.56Mt @ 1.3 g/t Au for 366,000oz Au, along with an 12.36Mt @ 1.28 g/t Au inferred resource.
