K92 Mining (TSX:KNT) has planned to complete a maiden mineral resource estimate at its Arakompa project in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea by mid-2026, following continued expansion of ‘high-grade’ zones.
The company reports its sixth set of drilling results from the maiden surface diamond drill program at Arakompa, located 4.5km from the Kainantu Gold Mine process plant.
The latest batch includes 33 holes, bringing the total holes released to 100.
All drill holes at Arakompa intersected mineralisation, with 40 intersections exceeding 5 grams per tonne gold equivalent and 20 intersections exceeding 10g/t gold equivalent.
Key results include 10.0m @ 15.21g/t gold equivalent from the AR1 vein, including 4.0m @ 36.65g/t gold equivalent within a broader bulk intercept of 140.1m @ 1.27g/t gold equivalent.
The AR2 vein delivered 4.7m @ 41.90g/t gold equivalent, including 1.0m @ 164.80g/t gold equivalent within 105.4m @ 2.26g/t gold equivalent.
Drilling confirms strong vein continuity in the AR1 ‘high-grade’ zone, with increased density enhancing geological confidence.
Surface sampling indicates mineralisation extends to the surface along Arakompa’s known 2km-plus strike length.
“Drilling continues to demonstrate a large, near-surface mineralised system, highlighted by the significant expansion and improved continuity of the AR1 high-grade zone,” CEO John Lewins says.
“Increased drill density is … also highlighting the potential for grade profile upgrades through ongoing infill and step-out drilling.”
VP of Exploration Robert Smillie says the latest results continue to reinforce why Arakompa has become a “major focus of exploration efforts”.
“As we advance towards a maiden mineral resource estimate, drilling continues to demonstrate both the scale of the system and the significant exploration upside that remains across the broader corridor,” Smillie says.
The company is also advancing porphyry vector drilling, with the latest results intersecting the outer potassic zone and providing vectoring towards a potential ‘high-grade’ porphyry core to the south.
K92 Mining is a Canadian mid‑tier gold producer operating the high‑grade Kainantu Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea and also exploring copper‑silver deposits in the same region.
