IperionX (ASX:IPX) has begun a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for the Titan Critical Minerals Project in Tennessee, which is partly funded by the US Government.
The DFS, expected to be completed by Q2 2026, will include detailed mine engineering, processing flowsheet and infrastructure design.
IperionX, which has a market capitalisation of $692.6 million, says this is the final phase of feasibility partly funded by an allocation from the recent US government award of US$47.1 million ($78.46 million).
CEO Anastasios Arima says starting the DFS marks a milestone for IperionX and the future of American critical mineral independence.
“The Titan Project is a nationally strategic critical minerals asset, uniquely positioned to support the US industrial and defence priorities,” Arima says.
IperionX notes that the Titan Project is positioned to supply low-cost, domestic critical mineral feedstocks to support future large-scale expansions of the company’s titanium production.
The project has also attracted interest from potential strategic and commercial partners seeking secure, long-term supplies of US sourced critical minerals.
The US Government is currently intensifying efforts to reshore manufacturing and strengthen supply chain independence, IperionX is strategically positioned to create value — providing secure, sustainable, and low-cost domestic supply of titanium and critical minerals essential to American industry.
According to the US Department of Energy (DOE), the nation lacks a strong domestic supply of many minerals and materials that will be critical to a decarbonised energy infrastructure, as well as current manufacturing technologies.
These include rare earths, lithium, cobalt, nickel, platinum group metals, gallium and germanium.
