Join Shae Russell from Mining.com.au as she chats to Ioneer’s (ASX:INR) Managing Director Bernard Rowe about the company’s Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron Project in Nevada.
“You know, some lithium deposits have small byproducts, but this is a bit different. And in terms of usage, just like with lithium, boron is incredibly important to the United States. It’s the second largest consumer of boron in the world,” Rowe says.
“And it gets used in just about everything you can imagine from the corning glassware that you put in your microwave, corning ware, glass, borosilicate glass. It’s a micronutrient in agriculture. It’s used to treat timber to stop termites eating wood in houses.”
The US Bureau of Land Management in October gave final approval for Rhyolite Ridge, which is due to become a key supplier of the battery metal to Ford (NYSE:F) and other electric vehicle manufacturers.
Key Highlights:
1️⃣ Only lithium mine where boron is a co-product not a byproduct.
2️⃣ Boron is a crucial metal for daily life.
