International diversification the new black for Australian miners

Yesterday (26 August) on Mining.com.au, this news service discussed the growing leap Australian explorers are making into Canadian territory.

With explorers such as Rapid Critical Metals (ASX:RCM) operating in British Columbia, as well as Albright Metals (ASX:ABR) with assets in New Brunswick, a key theme for these broadened international project portfolios is the search for critical minerals.

However, Canada isn’t the only country Australian explorers are branching out to.

The international diversification of project portfolios is an evolving theme in the mining industry.

Mammoth Minerals (ASX:M79) is a great example of this motif.

The company’s goal is to explore and develop ‘high-grade’ gold and copper deposits in the Americas.

In Canada, Mammoth has its Skyline Copper-Zinc-Silver Project, located in Newfoundland.

The company describes the asset as an ‘advanced’ project with drill-defined resources, located in a region seeing renewed exploration activity from companies like Firefly Metals (ASX:FFM) and AuMEGA (ASX:AAM).

Also in North America, the company owns the Excelsior Springs Gold Project in Nevada and the Bella Gold Project in South Dakota.

Mammoth intersected multiple broad, shallow gold zones at the Lunchbox Ridge prospect within Excelsior Springs earlier this month, with key drilling results including 22.9m @ 1.37 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 10.7m, including 3.0m @ 4.15g/t Au from 22.9m; 12.2m @ 1.57g/t Au from 32m, including 4.6m @ 3.31g/t Au from 38.1m; and 10.7m @ 1.09g/t Au from 164.6m.

The company’s American exploration doesn’t stop there, with Mammoth also exploring the Picha Copper Project in Peru.

Mammoth’s South American project is surrounded by large gold, copper, and base metal mines and projects.

Meanwhile, Australian explorer Middle Island Resources (ASX:MDI) is focused on advancing a Serbian portfolio of gold, silver, copper, and base metals projects.

The company is exploring the Bobija, Priboj, and Timok projects.

Middle Island Resources Bobija Project in Serbia

Earlier this month, Middle Island announced that it had planned reverse circulation drilling at two of its gold prospects in Serbia.

The drill planning followed a soil sampling campaign that defined large‑scale targets at Zabrnjica and Beli Potok.

The company completed infill soil sampling programs at both prospects within the Ober exploration licence, part of the Priboj Project in Serbia’s Western Tethyan Mineral Province.

Middle Island Resources is an Australian mineral explorer focused on advancing a portfolio of precious and base metal projects in Serbia.
