Mining.com.au joins Larvotto Resources (ASX:LRV) Managing Director Ron Heeks on site at Hillgrove for a closer look at the newly commissioned processing plant and its dry tailings system.
Ron explains why Larvotto has gone down a different path:
- Filter presses: New Italian-made units are helping dry the tailings
- Rehabilitation: Dry tailings allow rehabilitation to begin progressively
- Topography: Hillgrove’s steep terrain helped shape the design
- Rainfall: Local conditions also pushed the project away from wet tailings
- Community: A smaller footprint matters when operating close to nearby communities
For Hillgrove, this is about more than processing ore.
It is about reducing the footprint while the operation is still running.
