Infinity expands Swansea copper project by 47%

Infinity Metals (ASX:INF) has expanded its Swansea Copper Project in Arizona by 47% through the acquisition of 20 additional claims.

The company has staked 16 mineral lode claims and four placer claims in addition to the 34 claims held under option agreement announced in June.

Total project tenure now covers more than 5km strike over interpreted mineralised structures which host historical workings and mineral occurrences.

Executive Chairman Adrian Byass says ensuring the company acquired these areas prior to the next stage of work was ‘critical’.

“As work continues, we have confirmed areas which could host extensions and repeats of the high-grade copper mineralisation previously mined at Swansea,” Byass says.

The historic Swansea mine delivered 29 million pounds (13,154 tonnes) of copper (Cu) @ 2.43% Cu head grade over its life. Post-mining exploration drilling returned significant results including 18.3m @ 3.8% Cu from 125m and 19.5m @ 2.32% Cu from 122m.

Other intercepts include 14.6m @ 2% Cu from 67m, 6.1m @ 2.5% Cu from 128m, and 4.9m @ 2.7% Cu from 143m.

The company is proceeding with baseline studies to prepare information required for drilling approvals. Infinity plans to integrate information from a planned geophysical survey into its drill targeting.

The nature and style of copper mineralisation at Swansea is associated with specular hematite with copper and iron mineralisation introduced into carbonate stratigraphy by feeder structures, making it amenable to gravity and magnetic survey delineation.

Infinity Metals is an Australian explorer focused on advancing a portfolio of copper-molybdenum projects in the Nevada-Arizona district in the US, alongside a strategic interest in lithium assets in Spain.
