Infini firms up Canadian uranium targets

Infini Resources (ASX:I88) has confirmed elevated ground radiometric responses at its Portland Creek Uranium Project in Newfoundland, Canada, ahead of a planned 5,000m drilling program.

During the helicopter-supported field campaign, crews logged observations at 465 geological stations and collected more than 51,000 radiometric measurements along approximately 283km of traverses.

Ground checks of several airborne anomalies returned readings of 7,100 counts per second (cps), 8,800cps, and 9,400cps, compared with typical background levels of 500–800cps.

The strongest responses occurred in fractured and bleached granite, leucogranite veins, and sericitic fault gouge. Portable X-ray fluorescence screening indicated uranium values of up to approximately 2,800 parts per million (ppm) at a fault-gouge locality in the property’s southeast.

However, Infini cautions that the radiometric readings measure total radioactivity and cannot be attributed solely to uranium. The portable X-ray fluorescence results are also preliminary and require laboratory confirmation.

CEO Rohan Bone says the fieldwork has helped refine targets for the next drilling phase.

“Our field crews systematically assessed the priority airborne anomalies and confirmed strong radiometric responses on the ground, consistently within the fractured, altered and structurally prepared settings our geological model identified,” Bone says.

Infini has submitted 86 rock samples for laboratory analysis, with results expected during the third quarter of 2026.

The company says it is preparing to begin approximately 5,000m of Phase 3 diamond drilling at Portland Creek during the quarter. Trenching is also planned across several targets, including a previously reported soil anomaly at the Falls Lake prospect that returned up to 74,997ppm uranium oxide (U₃O₈).

Meanwhile, Infini has completed maiden diamond drilling at its Reynolds Lake and Reitenbach Lake Uranium Projects in Saskatchewan.

The 16-hole, 3,314m campaign targeted areas where electromagnetic conductors, magnetic lows, uranium geochemical anomalies, and interpreted structures overlap.

Drilling intersected graphitic rocks, faulting, brecciation, and hydrothermal alteration along several conductive trends. Infini says these features fit its exploration model for basement-hosted uranium mineralisation. Assays expected late in the third quarter will determine whether the intervals contain uranium mineralisation.
