    How autonomous drones are driving revenue optimisation at BHP’s Olympic Dam

    Emesent Hovermap helps BHP assess stope design using LiDAR scanning technology.

    In February 2019, survey and production teams at BHP’s massive Olympic Dam mine began using the Emesent Hovermap LiDAR scanning system to scan stopes to improve their understanding of rock mass characteristics, research failure mechanisms within stopes, and reevaluate design assumptions through back-analysis.

    With average estimated revenue per stope of USD $20M, being able to safely and accurately scan stopes has become vital.
