Homerun ships high-purity silica for customer testing

Homerun Resources (TSX-V:HMR) has shipped purified silica exceeding 99.99% silicon dioxide to prospective customers for product qualification following bulk-sample test work on material from Brazil.

Dorfner Anzaplan produced the samples using silica sand from the Santa Maria Eterna district in Belmonte, Bahia. Material has also been sent to the University of California, Davis, in the US, for further advanced materials development.

The shipments move Homerun’s purification work into customer testing, although the announcement does not disclose qualification results or commercial sales agreements.

Anzaplan’s testing found that two-hour thermal pre-treatment followed by acid leaching delivered the lowest total impurity level of 81 parts per million, a result previously reported on 9 July.

The shortest heating duration tested also produced the best purification result. Homerun says this could reduce energy consumption, operating costs, and thermal equipment requirements if the process is scaled up.

Those potential savings have not been quantified in the update.

The company says the bulk-sample campaign supports the reproducibility of the purification process and provides feedstock for continued advanced materials research.

Customer qualification and university research form separate parts of Homerun’s work to connect silica processing with potential downstream applications.

The company notes it is advancing silica-based thermal energy storage technology alongside AI-enabled energy management and control systems.

Homerun Resources is developing silica processing, solar glass, energy storage, and energy solutions businesses anchored by its high-purity, low-iron silica resource in Bahia, Brazil.
