Hillgrove’s strategic transition from explorer to producer — and what’s coming next

Hillgrove Resources (ASX:HGO) officially became Australia’s newest copper producer in early 2024 after taking its Kanmantoo Underground Project from an exploration project to a producing asset in just 8 months.

CEO and Managing Director Lachlan Wallace tells Mining.com.au that the project’s 4-year mine life, while perhaps short, is ‘entirely by design’ and is part of Hillgrove’s restart strategy to ensure it has adequate funding to chase its growth plans and make the most of the production upside in the area.
