Helix Resources (ASX:HLX) has outlined the potential for a porphyry-style copper-gold mine at the White Hills Project in Arizona, US, following geophysical, geological, and geochemical results.
The proposed integration involves inverted airborne magnetics supporting extensive units of important Cretaceous age granites could underlie the White Hills area.
Helix is planning exploration programs to determine the scale of copper-gold mineralisation at the project, including extending activities onto the broader, consolidated Gold Basin Joint Venture Project area.
An initial drilling program will be undertaken to test the area of previous drilling. Up to 2,000m of diamond core will be drilled to confirm previously identified gold mineralisation and to test for coincident copper mineralisation.
Depending on the outcomes surface geophysical programs will likely be conducted over the section two anomaly which may include induced polarisation and passive seismic work.
Further soil sampling may also be performed to test the area highlighted by a potassic radiometric anomaly and over the inferred detachment structure northwest along strike from the Senator Mine.
Chairman Mike Povey says the project offers Helix a strategic opportunity in a region renowned for copper and gold deposits.
“With growing interest and policy support for domestic copper production in the US, the project is ideally positioned to benefit from this momentum,” Povey says.
“We believe the consolidation fo White Hills and Gold Basin represents a transformative step forward for Helix, and we are excited to advance this outstanding growth opportunity.”
The White Hills Project is uniquely located in two renowned gold and copper mineral belts. The company notes despite being originally explored for gold, historical exploration samples indicate the project has potential for copper.
Helix Resources is a mineral explorer focused on discovering copper and gold at its land package in central New South Wales, Australia.
